IADC Drilling HSE Conference & Exhibition |
This is the title of GPT's paper, presented by Mr. Ebrahimi Ahouei, GPT HSE manager, in Abu Dhabi IADC Drilling HSE Conference & exhibition held at April 21-22this year. The paper is based on scientific approaches which are called Human Factors (HF) and is used to improve working condition and also design of tools.
IADC Drilling HSE Conference &Exhibition is an event which is held in every region on an annual interval.
In this conference, most of greatest companies of the region and representatives of other world class companies attended.
Agenda of the conference was very well planned to cover related matters which was going to be presented by several speakers. Each of speakers were going to share their experiences in their companies or reporting the others. What they have been achieved in their companies and how they have reached the results.
Abstract of paper :
Human factor is the science of understanding the properties of human capability and application of it to the design and development of systems and services. The recognition of human factors is important for Health & Safety because they can be the cause of serious human errors on the levels of physical behavior. The studies are more important in works, such as drilling, where the interaction between man and machinery is high, so that each employee should work within a full advertence and any error / mistake, may lead to no compensable affects to well being of the same employee, his workmates or damage of the expensive drilling equipments. This paper shows how we have used Human Factors study results for improvement of working conditions and development of tools to facilitate the achievement of our goals for reduction of hazards and incidents in our company and how much it was useful and affected the proper working on the rig. In the most general sense, we set three main goals for human factors study, which depicts the operator (brain and body) and the system with which he is interacting.
At first point it was necessary to diagnose or identify the problems and deficiencies in the human-system interaction of the existing system. After defining the problems there were five different approaches that were approached to, in order to implement the solution, which they were as follows:
- Environmental Design
- Training the individuals
- Selection of individuals
